The Bhagavad Gita is one such book that teaches you the way to live life. It is an in-depth talk about life between Lord Krishna and Arjuna. You might be aware that we receive results as per the Karma we do. The actions, whether good or bad determine our Karmas, and thus, our future.
In Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna has divided Karma into different categories - Akarma, Karma, and Vikarma.
Chapter 4, Verse 17
कर्मणः, हि, अपि, बोद्धव्यम्, बोद्धव्यम्, च, विकर्मणः,
अकर्मणः, च, बोद्धव्यम्, गहना, कर्मणः, गतिः।।17।।

Let's understand the three types of Karma in detail!
1) Karma (Good Actions)
When our actions are attached to the result, we are all doing karma. It simply means an action we do to achieve the desired result. In day-to-day life, we are constantly doing good actions, and thinking we are doing Karma. But these do not comprise Karma. These will simply lead to suffering, as if we do not receive the desired result, we will end up blaming others, ourselves, and god for everything and vice-versa.

As per the Bhagavad Gita, performing these Karmas does not liberate us from the cycle of birth and death.
For eg:
I did a charity to get an interview on TV.
I educated my children so that they'll provide me comfort and luxuries when I am old.
Do you think that doing something good, just to reach your desired result, is Karma?
2) Vikarma (Bad Actions)
The wrongdoings that we do to hurt others comprises of Vikarma. It also includes addictions to alcohol, smoking, etc. A person who does not perform his duties is also doing Vikarma.

For eg: A father coming home drunk and beating his children just to kill his frustration.
3) Akarma
The actions, we do without worrying about the results. Every action performed selflessly without any desires is Akarma. In Akarma, the illusion that 'I am the doer' totally vanishes. It is said to be the most superior form of Karma.
For eg:
He feeds poor people every day, but has never boasted about it. And whenever I ask him, why he feeds them, he says, "I did nothing."

In this world, only a few people actually fall into the category of Akarma. The rest of the whole world just does good deeds to post it on Social Media. Another important thing is there is nothing good/bad. The more weightage is given to intentions of performing an action.
For eg: Terrorist kills because of hatred. But police kill to save humanity.
